Slides: All slides must be checked out at the circulation desk. Students must present a valid Cornell University ID card when borrowing slides. Students may borrow slides for only the length of the class period in which they will be used. Slides borrowed overnight must be returned by 9:00 am on the next business day. Faculty and teaching assistants are requested to return slides as soon as possible after use. |

Videos collected by the Knight Visual Resources Facility are available for check out only to faculty members and their TA's; they are to be used for instructional purposes. Videos for use in class or individual student reviews may be placed on reserve in either Uris Library or the Fine Arts Library. Equipment: Projection equipment
owned by the Knight Visual Resources Facility is available for use
by current
faculty, students, and staff of the College of Architecture, Art and
Planning. Faculty members and students from other colleges in the
University
may only borrow this equipment for class presentations which take place
in Architecture, Art, and Planning facilities. All equipment must be checked out at the circulation desk and must be returned to the Knight Visual Resources Facility as soon as possible after use. Equipment which is borrowed overnight or over a weekend is due at 8:30 am on the next business day. Items which are borrowed before 12:00 noon are due by 4:30 pm. Overnight loans begin at noon. Fines of $5.00 per hour or fraction of an hour will be charged for equipment that is not returned on time.. The patron of record accepts full responsibility for the equipment he or she borrows including the full replacement cost of lost equipment with new equipment and the cost of repair or replacement of equipment damaged due to negligence. The patron is also responsible for the security of all equipment peripherals: DVD/CD drives, connecting cords, power cords, batteries, flash cards, and carrying cases, etc.. All borrowers are required to sign a statement of responsibility when the equipment is checked out. The patron of record will be held responsible for the return of all equipment in good working order even if it is loaned (passed on) to someone else or if it is checked out for another person. The cost of equipment replacement may exceed $2,000.00, and the cost of peripheral replacement may range from $10.00 to $150.00 depending on the item. Sibley 101, 115, 208, 211, and 318 contain ceiling mounted LCD projectors and locked tiltboxes containing VCR/DVD players. A bag containing the relevant patch cords and remote controls may be signed out from the KVRF circulation desk. Keys to the tiltboxes are also available. A key may be checked out for access to the locked cabinet in Sibley 101 which contains slide projection equipment. Sibley 157 is equipped with two slide projectors which are mounted on a projection stand. Access to the remaining audio, data, and video equipment stored in this room is coordinated by Mike Lococo, 592-2740, and Rich Jaenson, 255-4599, in the Department of Architecture. Digital camcorders and cameras require the completion of a training session before they may be used. A Nikon D100 Digital Camera with a macro lens capable of producing high quality image for archive, presentation, documentation, and archiving purposes is available for use in our copystand room (B-19 Sibley). An analog Nikon camera with a macro lens is also available for copystand use. These items are available only during regular business hours and may be reserved in advance.
Other Campus Equipment Resources: DCAPS's digital imaging studio Located in Olin Library, DCAPS's digital imaging studio consists of a Better Light Super 6-K2 digital camera scanning back on a ZBE Satellite copy stand. Images are captured at 6000 x 8000 resolution and 14-bit color internal capture running on a Apple Macintosh Dual Processor G4 computer, a calibrated image editing station, and networked image servers. The Better Light Super 6-K2 digital camera creates an image file up to one-hundred-thirty-seven megabytes in size. The special Videssence lights are cool fluorescent lights calibrated at 5,000° kelvin for optimal and even lighting. Creation Stations Cornell Libraries also provide access to digital Creation Stations. "There are nine Creation Stations available in the new Cornell Library Collaborative Learning Computer Laboratory (CL3) in Uris Library. The CL3 is located on the Gallery Level in Uris at the bottom of the stairs to your left when you enter the building. These computers are for use by students using the Creation Stations for course-related projects. This room will be staffed by student computer assistants."

Other Scanning Resources: The Knight Visual Resources Facility has a scanning station with a flat bed scanner that will accept copy up to 11"x17" in size. The scanning station is available for Faculty use only. For oversize artwork, drawings, and other large copy, professional scanning is recommended. The
