The Knight Visual Resources Facility currently houses about 430,000 slides which provide instructional and research support for the academic programs of the College of Architecture, Art, and Planning and the History of Art Department within the College of Arts and Sciences. It also serves as a resource for the entire university.
The contents of the collection reflect the teaching interests of the faculty with strong holdings in architecture, art history and contemporary art. Approximately 5,000-8,000 images are added annually.

In 1984 the Architecture Department faculty designated it the Frederick Morris Wells Memorial Slide Collection to honor a distinguished former chairman, teacher, and colleague,1944-1968. In 1990 a newly renovated space to house the visual resources facility was dedicated and named in honor of Adelaide and George W. Knight.
In 2001, the Knight Slide Library of the Department of the History of Art was merged with the Morris Wells Memorial Slide Collection in the College of Architecture, Art and Planning.
